The well is situated at the bottom of the valley of Gleann na nGealt. A crossing on the Gleann na nGealt stream is called Ath na Gealtán (fools crossing). Gleann na nGealt is also known as the Valley of the Mad, because of abelief that a cure for mental illness exists in a well which is situated in the valley. To this day '' Tobar na ngealt ''is painted on a small sign next to the well which translated from Irish is the ' well of the lunatics'. The magical valley in Camp, Co.Kerry has been visited by Kings, their generals, spiritualists and even the wizard Merlin to access its healing powers throughout time. Gleann na nGealt is a place where you would go instinctively if you needed healing. Stories tell of drinking the well water and eating the watercress from around the well and their healing properties. The water itself, comes from deep in the bowels of the earth and passes through a lithium rock formation which filters the water and gives it pure healing properties. In July, 2012 a chemical analysis was carried out on the waters of Gleann na nGealt and at Tobar na nGealt at the end of the valley (near Brigid O Connor’s house) there was found to be 55.6 parts per billion  of Lithium,  in the water.  This is much higher than than the Lithium content recorded in other water samples in the locality.   The chemical Lithium is often used in the treatment of mental illness and it would suggest that people in olden times came to the valley for the cure and that there was indeed some basis to the story of the “cure in the water”.

Pedlar's lake is situated on Conor Pass, connecting Dingle with Castlegregory in Co.Kerry.  Across from the majestic Mount Brandon It is one of Ireland's highest mountain passes. This amphitheatre-like valley has left behind an ancient deep lake called Pedlar's Lake which streams down to Pedlar's waterfall. Pedlar's Lake, is actually where the first evidence for The Ice Age in Ireland was discovered. Pedlar's Waterfall is the epicentre of everything that is perfect on Conor Pass. Irish folklore:

 'Get a few handfuls of the yellow blossoms of the gorse and boil them in water. Give the water as a dose to the horse and this will cure worms'.

 Druids believed holly possessed protective qualities, guarding against evil spirits and spells.
